Append-only history. DEVLOG.md is the short reverse-chronological ledger; the dated YYYY-MM-DD-topic.md files are longer session writeups — messier, more opinionated, the record of what broke and what was bugging us. Never edited after the fact; the formal record of decisions lives in DESIGN.md's decisions log, not here.
