aerie #
aerie is sol pbc's owned Cloudflare distribution of a Tangled-compatible knot. The current production line builds on Tangled Labs Oy's MIT-licensed Go knot, adding HTTPS push and a Cloudflare Worker, Container, D1, and R2 deployment.
deployment #
The Cloudflare Containers package lives under deploy/cloudflare/: a Dockerfile, Go entrypoint, Worker shim, and wrangler.toml.
Deployment is operator-driven. See deploy/cloudflare/README.md for install-path decisions, required secrets, and operational notes.
what this is #
aerie's current line keeps inherited Go-knot behavior at its pinned base while shipping a pure-Go (CGO-free) build via modernc.org/sqlite, authenticated HTTPS git-receive-pack behind KNOT_SERVER_ENABLE_HTTPS_PUSH, D1 metadata support, and the Cloudflare Containers deployment under deploy/cloudflare/. The fork-base SHA and historical patch taxonomy are tracked in UPSTREAM.md; the community posture and lexicon-namespace commitment live in COMMUNITY.md.
sol pbc operates the public service at knot.rook.host.
build #
Use:
make installmake testmake lintmake build
make build produces bin/knot as a statically linked binary using the pure-Go modernc.org/sqlite driver by default (BUILD_TAGS=modernc, CGO_ENABLED=0). For parity testing against upstream Tangled's default CGO/mattn behavior, use BUILD_TAGS= CGO_ENABLED=1 make build.
make ci runs install lint test build. v1 assumes Linux; Apple toolchains are out of scope.
run #
The static knot binary's help entry point is:
bin/knot server --help
The server subcommand is server.
relationship to upstream tangled #
Tangled replaced the Go knot with a separate Rust implementation, Knot 2. aerie therefore owns this Go line independently rather than treating it as a rebase queue. UPSTREAM.md records the frozen base and historical patch categories. Current Tangled remains useful protocol intelligence, and generic fixes may still be shared when they fit, but upstream is not aerie's release train.
status #
The Go line is operated at knot.rook.host. It is not claimed to be behavior-identical to current Knot 2. sol pbc is qualifying Knot 2 and a more native R2/Durable Object repository boundary without changing production during that work.
