Rubiginosus (from the Prionailurus rubiginosus, but 'rubi' or 'rubigino' works for short 😃 ) is a small firmware for the RP2350 / Raspberry Pi Pico 2. It is explicitly written to take advantage of the RP2350's RISC-V Hazard3 cores, because I'm a lunatic.
Note that right now, Rubiginosus doesn't do much of anything; all it does is toggle the Pico 2's onboard LED. Impressive, right? 😄
Compilation / Running #
Compilation should be as simple as running cargo build.
From there, you'll need to manually load it into the bootrom. Put the RP2350 into BOOTSEL mode, and load Rubiginosus like any other ELF:
cd target/riscv32imac-unknown-none-elf/debug
sudo picotool load rubiginosus -t elf
Reset the RP2350 either via its RUN pin or by unplugging / plugging it in again, and there you have it! Rubiginosus is now running on your RP2350 😃 Look at that little green LED go!
