This is a dinky little "engine" for creating games and whatnot for the 3DS, using the likes of libctru and citro3d.
It's very barebones at the minute, with basically nothing done. Just wanted to get what I do have into version control 😛
Despite primarily being targeted for the 3DS, I have tried to write the includes in a way that's at least a little bit portable, but no guarantees!
License #
This software is licensed under the Mozilla Public License (MPL) 2.0
Using as-is #
If you plan on using this software as-is for your own game / application (such as through #includes), then you must link back to this repository ~ somewhere ~ in it; see this FAQ section from Mozilla for detailed more information!
Beyond that, you may choose to do whatever you wish with your own code! Charge for it, keep it private, open it up -- it's up to you, really! As long as people are informed of where to get this code, all of the above is fine 🙂↕️
Using Modified Versions #
If you plan on using a modified version of this software for your own game / application, then the files you have modified must be publicly accessible and linked to ~ somewhere ~ in your program; see this answer from Mozilla for more information!
If you were to modify 3d.h, for instance, then users must be able to get this modified version of the code, and be told where they can get it from.
Similar to using the program as-is though, the rest of your program's code can be licensed however you wish!
Rationale #
The MPL is a bit of an odd choice for something like this, I'll concede!
I wanted modifications to be accessible to people, for the good of the community and whatnot, but without forcing people to open-source their entire game. That's really onerous in my opinion, and isn't as fitting for games as it is software!
Acknowledgements #
Much of what I have learned and am using in this repository is courtesy of the devkitPro team's 3ds-examples repository.
The Makefile this repository uses is a (slightly!) modified version of the devkitPro team's Makefile used for libctru. That file is licensed under the ZLib license. For more information, see the header of the Makefile.
