The message list always snapped to the bottom on every incoming event or reaction, so scrolling up to read history was pointless — the next Tick would yank the view back down. Only auto-follow while the user is actually near the bottom, tracked via the scroll adjustment's own value/upper signals, and surface a floating pill to jump back when they are not. Explicit actions that should always land at the bottom — switching chats, sending, replying, joining a channel — force the pinned state back on before rendering; editing a message does not, since it changes something that may not be at the bottom and jumping away from it would be surprising.
