It was a row in the account menu, so the only people who could choose a colour scheme were the ones who had signed in — and the setting is about this browser, not about an account. A reader of the blog never signs in at all. It is its own control on the bar now: an icon that opens a panel with the same three choices, mounted by the layout beside the account's and never waiting on /api/session. The panel is quieter than the account's because this is how the page is drawn, not who you are.
