disttown.jsonc (JWCC via hujson, walk-up, containment-checked) supplies project, artifacts, storage choice, expected publisher, and lineage. Every command's project relaxes to the manifest with provenance stated; an annotated tag proposes the version; interactive publish renders the full plan and asks. Storage profiles route per entry; the publisher guard refuses mismatches before a byte moves and adopt rewrites two fields comment-preservingly, capturing derivedFrom. init writes the commented scaffold; the schema serves at /disttown.schema.json; the nix build stamps version+nix and the update source. derivedFrom reaches projectView and renders outbound-only on the derivative's page.
