Social-app community packages #

Portable, compile-time feature packages shared by forks of Bluesky's React Native social app.

This proof of concept starts with external embed renderers:

• @social-app-community/embed-kit defines the small, version-independent handler and registry contract.
• @social-app-community/embed-tangled-string renders sh.tangled.string records referenced by external link embeds.

The packages are currently unpublished at version 0.0.0. A consuming app is expected to provide a narrow adapter for its theme, link and text components, record fetching, profile rendering, and translations.

Principles #

• Record-aware: handlers can match external.associatedRefs, not only URLs.
• Backwards-compatible: URL matching remains available for old posts and clients that did not persist record references.
• Structurally typed: no dependency on a particular social-app lexicon SDK.
• Static and explicit: installed handlers are bundled with the app and kept in an ordered local registry.
• Safe fallback: malformed matches are isolated and unmatched embeds remain the host app's normal external card.
