dce (WIP name, WIP project) #

Warning

Remember that automating user accounts is forbidden by Discord TOS. Usage of any tools that act on behalf of the user (such as this one) may get you banned.

A discord chat exporter with archivisation & incremental export in mind. As such, its goal is to allow chat exports with varying levels of compactness and standalone-ness.

TODO: Move into functional spec

Goals in mind:

  • allow downloading all the necessary resources so that the dump can be viewed fully offline
  • have a main index which allows switching between different DMs/chats
  • the HTML exports should have a decent UI, resembling the discord's UI as closely as possible:
    • support full discord (and) markdown formatting
    • keep system messages (pins, welcome stickers, calls)
    • keep emojis, reactions, responds, pings, (edited)
    • split messages by time the same way discord does it
  • have a generic and concrete data implementation (as in - export a json, but also HTMLs)
  • support incremental mode - allow keeping an incremental chat export
