Drop the gradient (and its fog) for a single flat tone, and let that tone follow SlabMenubar's theme-by-status wire — seeded from current-color.json, updated live by the desktop-tint.changed distributed notification — so the Pals field carries the working/awaiting/stale color the terminals wear.
