title: Official Developer Program #

We have opened up our API's to developers so that they may create utilities, scripts, programs, bots, and other software packages to aid players in playing the game, managing alliances, and more.

Developer Program Rules #

  1. You will not use your software for malicious purposes of any kind including but not limited to attacks, theft, or abuse of TLE players, servers, or the web site.
  2. Your software will not violate the Terms of Service, Rules, or Privacy Policy of TLE Community.
  3. Your software will not exploit bugs in the game server, or enable players to cheat* in any way.
  4. Your software will be as efficient as possible with it's calls to the servers so as not to overload or tax the servers unreasonably.
  5. The use of your software will not allow a player or players to interfere with the enjoyment of players not using your software.
  6. These rules are subject to change without notice. It is your responsibility to visit this page regularly to keep up with changes.

* Cheating is defined as circumventing the rules to gain an advantage other players don't have. Cheating will be determined at the sole discretion of the TLE Community team.

Attribution #

The Lacuna Expanse is the original commercial game, developed and published by JT Smith, Plainblack, Lacuna Expanse Corp., and their contributors. This edition of the game, and this developer program, are operated by TLE Community, a group of unpaid volunteer open-source contributors. TLE Community is not a registered company and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the original creators, and claims no ownership of the "The Lacuna Expanse" or "Lacuna Expanse Corp" names or marks. See the About page for full credits.

Getting Started #

We recommend getting an API Key. This allows you to keep track of interesting stastics such as number of empires using the tool, essentia spend, etc. We also allow hitting the server with an API Key of anonymous if you prefer however this will be taken away if abused. The TLE Community Rules and Terms of Service have already been made clear so consider this your only warning: do not fuck around, or else.

  • API Overview - Start here! Learn how to send requests to the server and the rough outline of what the data looks like when it comes back.
  • Error Codes - List of errors the TLE Community backend will throw back at you.
  • API Documentation - The official documentation of all public APIs.
  • Shared Schemas - Shared schemas that you will see repeated throughout the API.
  • Lacuna Assets Repository - The original game artwork, for use in your own clients and utilities under the terms carried in that repository.
  • Lacuna App Repository - The code used to create TLE Community web frontend. It may be used to create your own app or tool.
  • Lacuna Client Repository - TypeScript client for TLE Community which can be used for other automation tools or serve as inspiration for implementing your own API client.
  • API Keys - Meanjin One - Get an API key to identify your tool's usage as well as see interesting stats.
