Random internet users who find linji via Bluesky/atproto and stumble onto
app0.linji.at, plus the seed community (同喜班). They know how to use the
web and consumer chat apps; they do NOT know atproto internals (DIDs,
AT-URIs, repos). Mixed phone and desktop.

## Product Purpose

A calmer place for long-running topical conversation, built on atproto so
your identity and your words are yours. Spaces contain threads; threads
contain messages. Success: a Bluesky stumbler understands what this is
from the first screen, signs in with their PDS account, and is reading a
conversation within a minute — without ever seeing an AT-URI.

## Brand Personality

Calm, warm, minimal. A study room, not a server list. Warm paper/charcoal
surfaces, one amber accent, generous whitespace, quiet states.

## Anti-references

- Discord-busy: badges, noise, channels screaming for attention.
- Slack-corporate: enterprise chrome, upsell surfaces.
- Generic SaaS: gradients, hero metrics, glass cards.
- Dev-tool aesthetics: monospace everything, visible protocol internals
  (AT-URIs, DIDs) in primary UI.

## Design Principles

1. **Web-native, not protocol-native.** No AT-URIs, DIDs, or lexicon
   jargon in the primary path. Power features exist but stay behind
   "advanced" affordances.
2. **Reading first.** Message text gets the best typography on the
   screen; chrome recedes. Calm over dense.
3. **One accent, spent on actions.** Amber marks primary actions and the
   current selection only; never decoration.
4. **Familiar over clever.** Forum/chat mental models (thread, reply,
   back button) over invented affordances. The tool disappears.
5. **Every state designed.** Loading (skeletons), empty (teaches),
   error (plain words, next step), non-member, offline — no dead ends.

## Accessibility & Inclusion

- WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 body text) in BOTH themes; light and dark are
  first-class, follow system by default, manual toggle persisted.
- Reduced-motion alternative for every animation.
- 44px touch targets on mobile; usable at 360px width.
- Older eyes in the seed community: comfortable base size (16px+),
  generous line height for message text.
