Things somebody could reasonably expect this project to build, that it is not going to. Features only: deferred work stays in its own epic, and a technique that lost an argument stays beside the code and the measurement that killed it.

MekHQ and StratCon #

MekHQ is MegaMek's campaign manager and StratCon is the campaign system inside it. Neither is being ported. arena runs one MegaMek per match and exits, where MekHQ is a long-lived application over a save file on the player's own disk, so none of the port helps; it would double a patch burden that already costs something every release (arena-image); and a save file is the state model backwards, since the durable thing a player owns is supposed to be records in their own repository. campaign is the smaller thing instead — what a pilot carries out of a match, not a company's books. The same argument covers porting MegaMekLab, though forces's own force-building screen is a different and much smaller thing, and is open work. Reopen this if MekHQ ever grows a headless mode something else can drive.

Hosting accounts #

No PDS, no accounts, no handles under lance.blue. A player arrives with an identity that already exists somewhere else and can take it away again (sign-in, and infra's docs/architecture.md). It is written down here as well because owning a domain makes handles under it look nearly free, and the assumption keeps being re-derived. The cost is real — somebody who has never heard of ATProto has to get an account elsewhere first, which is onboarding's to soften — and account hosts closing is a reason to name more of them on the front page, not to become one.

Done #

Nothing, and nothing is expected. An entry that gets reversed leaves this file and becomes an epic of its own.
