This page highlights what I've been doing recently.
College

This year I finished the spring and summer semesters at Laney, a community college in Oakland, and now I'm starting the fall. I'm taking Discrete Mathematics, Data Structures and Algorithms, and a history class, nothing too exciting.

What is exciting is that next spring will be my last semester before I transfer. I'm applying to four-year universities now, and my hope is UC Santa Cruz for a B.S. in Computer Science. It's also internship season, so I'm hoping to land a software engineering internship for next summer (if you know of any, please reach out!).

Life

I've gotten into coffee. I make espresso at home now and I'm hooked. I didn't understand the coffee cult until recently, but a warm espresso with the morning news on the balcony brings me so much joy. My local shop is Mother Tongue. They have great beans, and it's women-owned!

I also decided, for some reason, that I want to run a half marathon, so I've started training. Yay.

Media

Less time for games lately, and a rough run of books, but the music has been great.

Why this structure

Three h2 groups instead of eight h3 labels. h2 has 3rem of space above it, so it's built to mark a real break. Grouping topics gives the page three clear stops instead of eight equal ones.

No heading over less than two paragraphs. Running (20 words) and Watching (15 words) had a heading each. Short topics now share a heading, and each paragraph opens by naming its topic, so you can still scan it.

Paragraphs of 3 to 6 sentences. At about 64 characters a line that's 4 to 8 lines on a laptop and roughly twice that on a phone: long enough to read as prose, short enough not to become a wall.

Lists for media. The Reading paragraph had four titles and three ratings in one sentence, a run of lime underlines. One title per line keeps each rating next to its title, and the h4 labels are the same small grey style as the /NOW label.

No heading on the last paragraph. The post ends on prose and goes straight into the dashed rule, instead of ending on a heading over two sentences.

Same words. Only joins between sentences changed, so you can compare this with /now/sep-2026/ for structure alone.
