Aesthetic Computer is a free, open place to make and share little interactive programs — drawings, instruments, games, generative art — from any phone or laptop. No app store, no sign-up wall: you type a word and a piece appears. It's run by one person and kept alive by the people who use it.
Everything — the website, the live multiplayer sessions, image & code builds, storage, and the language behind every piece — runs on one small, self-owned server stack for about $356 a month, plus what creative work costs to make. It runs lean on purpose, and the full line-by-line breakdown is public.
The community kept the lights on this spring. A working laptop arrived as a gift, restored development tools were covered by a friend, and the server bills are current. The hosting was moved onto infrastructure we fully control — no landlord that can pull the plug. Aesthetic Computer is stable because people chose to keep it that way.
