# Pop Releases Progress tracker for finished `pop/` singles — what's shipped, what's in flight, and where it lives. See [SCORE.md](SCORE.md) for the mill mission. Status legend: **RELEASED** · **SUBMITTED** · **MASTERING** · **RENDER** · **WIP** · **IDEA** --- ## nighttime study — RENDER (2026-09-30; Ringing Voice, @jeffrey ear-check next) - **Latest: Ringing Voice.** 9:48 · 104 BPM. Measured vowel spectra from all three takes become pitched bells, including exposed chord strikes. Decays reach 38.4 seconds; upper formants fade faster than the fundamental. Lead and choir room tails extend to 10–20 seconds; final ring-out gains 16 seconds. Tuned lead, chorale parts, narrative and dance pulse retained. `afternoon-study/bin/render-night-ringing.py` → `afternoon-study/out/nighttime-ringing/nighttime-study-ringing.{wav,mp3}`. −18.0 LUFS · −2.5 dBTP · LRA 16.2; mono loss 0.38 dB, phone-proxy loss 1.06 dB. Bell-decay envelopes and six lead/backing balance windows checked; QA saved. - **Earlier: Aesthetivox Chorale.** 9:32 · 104 BPM. Thirty-six recorded phrases, voice from the opening, stronger WORLD note locking with original unvoiced sounds, separately led bass/tenor/upper harmonies, and extended source-vowel endings. Preserves the suite's narrative and dance pulse; instruments sit lower. `afternoon-study/bin/render-night-chorale.py` → `afternoon-study/out/nighttime-chorale/nighttime-study-chorale.{wav,mp3}`. −18.6 LUFS · −2.5 dBTP · LRA 16.4; mono loss 0.11 dB, phone-proxy loss 0.81 dB. Opening lead and three choir pitches independently checked within 1.4 cents median absolute error; six sampled sections place combined vocals 6–26 dB above instruments. Source ranges, voicings, tuning settings and QA saved. - **Earlier: Vocal Suite.** 9:32 · 104 BPM. Eighteen continuous phrases from the original microphone recordings replace the note-bank foreground; original pitch, timing and breaths retained. Overture → exposition → development → slow movement → transformed return → coda. New instrumental themes, extended sine sustains, 14–24-second bells, and a dance pulse. Voice enters at 0:18. `afternoon-study/bin/render-night-suite.py` → `afternoon-study/out/nighttime-suite/nighttime-study-suite.{wav,mp3}`. −16.7 LUFS · −2.5 dBTP · LRA 14.7; mono loss 0.02 dB, phone-proxy loss 0.72 dB. Six sampled vocal passages were checked against the backing; source ranges, original recording hashes, separate stems, measurements and QA are saved. - **Earlier: Dance pass.** 9:05 · 108 BPM. Revised after the first mix felt morose: major sixth/ninth harmony, steady kick, swung brush ticks, answering bass, articulated vocal rolls and new lead melodies from the same three takes. Shorter reverbs and lighter upper-register hums. Render: `afternoon-study/bin/render-night-dance.py`; master: `afternoon-study/out/nighttime-dance/nighttime-study-dance.{wav,mp3}`. −20.1 LUFS · −2.5 dBTP · LRA 8.5; mono loss 0.22 dB, phone-proxy loss 0.99 dB. 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV and 320 kbps MP3, private master backup complete. - **Lane:** `pop/afternoon-study/`, companion to Afternoon Study. 9:05 · 72 BPM · 160 bars plus room tail. New melodies from @jeffrey's September 26 Lemon Kittens, Indigo Shadows and Saffron Swallows note banks; rolling vocals, sustained hums, sparse grand piano and low mallets. - **Arrangement:** chamber platter phrase growth, unequal phrase lengths, two-voice stillness at 3:07, late bloom at 6:00, opening recalled at half density; rhythm platter complementary vocal/mallet attacks. Sources and applications in `afternoon-study/README.md`; reproducible score in `bin/render-night.py`. - **Master:** `afternoon-study/out/nighttime/nighttime-study.{wav,mp3}`; separate stems, event score, loudness measurements and hashes in the same directory. Ambient dynamics retained with measured static gain and an oversampled ceiling. - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer. Private listening draft; not submitted. ## afternoon study — RENDER (v5 2026-09-29: mallet kit, forward grand, sparse bass; @jeffrey ear-check next) - **Lane:** `pop/afternoon-study/` · one dance track from the three Sep 26 Menu Band takes, played from the `pop/tape-sketches/` Aesthetivox note banks as three singers. 118 BPM · 76 bars · 2:35 · C (Cmaj7 | Am7 | Fmaj7 | G7; Bbmaj7 in the breakdown). Verse/chorus melodies written for the record are sung by **Lemon Kittens**' samples through a nearest-sample picker (WORLD ≤5 st + octaves, stretched to the written length, legato); harmony thirds, −12 under the chorus (never below G3), +12 in chorus two. **Saffron Swallows** sings the whole-note counter line, the chord-tone sixteenth arpeggio with octave trades, the un-chopped arch over the breakdown, and a reversed C4 swell into each drop. **Indigo Shadows**: hums = a three-voice hymn pad, short notes = the off-beat pulse, loud hits only = a quiet layer under the marimba clave. **Grand piano** (the Salamander bank AC OS plays, voiced like pianotrax) sits forward at −17 LUFS: solo intro with the tune up high and a falling run, verse comping, chorus blocks doubling the hook with grace notes and +24 sparkle, pentatonic runs at phrase ends, trills, two-octave-up broken chords in the breakdown, a marimba gliss into drops. **Percussion is all synthesized mallets**: modal marimba (pop/marimba presets) on the son clave, woodblock 3:4 hemiola, bubble pops, brush swishes on 2+4, a clickless soft kick. Bass rests (root on one, an answer on the and-of-two, a pickup). Builds per femrag++: block/bubble roll 4→32, sweeping riser, breath, A1→A2 sub stinger. Separation: vocal buses centred, instruments notched at 3.6 k and ducked. Form: intro 4 · verse 8 · build 4 · chorus 16 · hymn 8 · verse 8 · build 4 · chorus 16 · outro 8. - **Master:** `out/afternoon-study.{wav,mp3}` (copy on the Desktop) · −12.3 LUFS · LRA 7.2 · −1.8 dBTP. `out/chart.{txt,svg}`, `out/stems/{vocals,instrumental}.wav`, `out/receipts.json` (melodies, samples + shifts, piano bank, breaths, SHA-256s). - **Earlier cuts today:** v1 chopped-takes house · v2 pop (sampled claps, risers) · v3 extended/subtle · v4 written melodies + CC0 kit + grand (the ticks read as static, the lows too constant, the grand buried). All superseded by v5. - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer (intended). - **Next:** @jeffrey hears it → tune by ear (piano level and fills, mallet kit level, bass spacing) · cover · packet. --- ## eight gigabytes — RENDER (first cut 2026-09-26; @jeffrey ear-check next) - **Lane:** `pop/eightgigabytes/` · the pop cut of the MacNeoPolitan Trio's *IV. The Ballad of neo* (`grants/culturehub-la-2026/macneopolitan/members/neo/ballad.md`) · 1:37 · F minor · 100 BPM · 39 bars, no intro, opens on the refrain; verses V (two lines) and XI + refrain ×3 (form per @jeffrey 2026-09-26, cut down by ear through the day). Harmonies are counter-lines (frisbee enters on the stressed word, blueberry in contrary motion). The score mp4 (light theme) carries the three laptops with the trio's own singing faces (`bin/faces.sh`, Menu Band's SingerFaceView offline), member-colored laptops and per-member word captions. Last line for the cut: *this is the one thing that I know*. All three band voices sing themselves through Menu Band's offline singer (`singrender`): neo/Noelle lead, blueberry/Allison low part + *in June another one came, blue*, frisbee/Junior middle part, echoes, + *a third one comes tomorrow, blush*. Bed synthesized in node: clock tick, kick, trackpad tap, sub, sine pad, FM menu-bar piano, whistle (GM-78 family voice) doubling the hook and answering the verses. - **Master:** `out/eightgigabytes.{wav,mp3,mp4}` · −13.4 LUFS · LRA 4.3 · −1.0 dBTP; `out/eightgigabytes-chorus.*` = the opening refrain alone, `-front.*` = through the second refrain. Pitch: neo 230/232 notes within 50 c (mean 9 c), blueberry 87/87, frisbee 78/83. Whisper small.en 12 % mean WER on the lead (digits and *the system* → *this*). - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer (intended) · title `eight gigabytes` lowercase. - **Next:** @jeffrey hears it → tune by ear · cover (no wordmark) · DistroKid packet. --- ## climbalift — WIP (v15, 2026-09-25) - **Lane:** `pop/notespatial/` · the Climb and the Lift cut out of *Note(s)pat(ial) Native* and rebuilt as a club record: 100 bars, 3:06, Bm → Dm → Fm, big-room / witch-house, binaural through the KEMAR head, the mill's physically modelled voices (FEM bells, marimba, friction, two-mass, waveguide guitar) and the dance lane's bass engines used the way the new `papers/bass-platter/` says. Everything in [`pop/notespatial/CLIMBALIFT.md`](notespatial/CLIMBALIFT.md). - **Master (v15):** −12.3 LUFS · −1.9 dBTP · LRA 8.1 · phone loss 5.4 dB (documented exception: the club pump and the real sub). Not yet a release: @jeffrey is still directing the arrangement by ear against the score video. --- ## notespatial — PACKET-READY (2026-09-25 · @jeffrey listens, then submits) - **Lane:** `pop/notespatial/` · *Note(s)pat(ial) Native*, the eleven-chapter spatial suite written for the September 24 CultureHub LA ring of six AC OS laptops, printed **binaurally from the center seat** · instrumental · 12:56 (775.9 s with the tail). **Headphones.** Score `fedac/native/scores/notespatial-native.nsscore` (unchanged); arrangement in `grants/culturehub-la-2026/NOTESPATIAL-ARRANGEMENT.md`. - **Engine:** `fedac/native/tools/notespatial-native-render.mjs --audio-only --sub --float` (the `--float` flag is new: a 32-bit float print for mastering; the 16-bit print is for review) → `pop/notespatial/bin/master.sh`: 20 Hz high-pass, bass mono under 120 Hz, **one static +3 dB**, 4× oversampled true-peak limiter (6/90 ms, ASC, −2.2 dBTP ceiling), 24-bit FLAC at 44.1 k. `bash pop/notespatial/bin/render.sh` makes the whole record in ~30 s. - **Master:** `out/notespatial-MASTER.flac` — **−16.7 LUFS · −2.1 dBTP · LRA 15.7 · PLR 14.6** · decoded AAC-256 peak −1.6 dBTP · mono loss −2.1 dB (the binaural placement is the piece; same exception as bracelet) · phone loss −2.9 dB. Chapters sit between −25 and −15 LUFS; the +3 dB was set by measuring the limiter against a limiter-less pass: >2 dB of reduction for 2.2 s total, 4.5 dB once on the Lift's tutti chord. Ambient exception to the house target, documented in the lane README. SHA-256 `21d175b4d50747d0ce7662731901c5eef39cc8ae2aa60edab8e7771d9a9d7403`. - **Cover:** `out/notespatial-cover-dark-3000.jpg` — the render tool's own isometric view of the room at 8:35 in the Lift's spin (laptops lit by what they play, the held laptop at center, the kick, notes flying in), 1500² render cropped to the ring and scaled ×3 nearest-neighbor. Light-theme alternate in the packet. No AI, no photo. - **Packet:** `~/Documents/Shelf/notespatial-DISTROKID/` — release.json (Electronic / Classical, subgenre Experimental; songwriter Jeffrey Scudder; instrumental; release asap), MASTER.flac (79 MB — larger than any file the submit tool has pushed before; fall back to a manual drag if the upload bridge balks), cover, 320 k preview mp3 with embedded cover, audit TSV. The packet has every field and file `distrokid-submit.mjs` requires (checked by hand; the tool itself needs `playwright`, which is not installed here). Public record `pop/releases/notespatial/release.json`. - **Next:** @jeffrey listens to the preview in headphones (Lift at 7:21, Vanish at 11:53) and approves or asks for a different gain/sub level → submit → paste the Spotify link here → CDN (`pop/notespatial.mp3`, `.jpg`) → an AC page (`disks/notespatial.mjs` + `disks/pop/notespatial.json`, eleven chapter stills from the same render tool) → a Canvas from the sim video. --- ## amazing grace — RELEASED · DistroKid accepted 2026-09-23 - **Artist / label:** Aesthetic Dot Computer. Single: `amazing grace`, lowercase. Electronic / Electronica–Downtempo, secondary Pop. Release date September 23, 2026. - **Distribution:** DistroKid confirmed “Hooray, your music is on its way!”; streaming-store processing is still pending, not confirmed live. Legato word joins, centered lead, independently scored inner and octave harmonies, backing-vocal flange, room reflections, FM blips and stereo orbit bursts. `hybrid-amazing.py` selects alternate how/was/blind attacks while retaining the original second line. The later `CHOIR_FORWARD=1` audition is not the release. - **Checks:** 91 synthesized notes within 8 cents. Blind local OpenAI Whisper small.en improves from 21/52 to 17/52 edits (32.7% WER), with residual errors on “that saved a wretch” and “was blind”; human approval does not erase that diagnostic limitation. [Audit and submission receipts](big-pictures/release/amazing-grace/). - **Credits:** John Newton (lyrics), William Walker (traditional tune attribution), Jeffrey Scudder (arrangement, singing/vocals, producer). Public-domain hymn arrangement with existing Jeffrey PVC sources; no new vocal recording. - **Cover:** close square image-tool crop derived from `IMG_5775.HEIC`, Jeffrey with his mother, delivered as `amazing-grace-cover.jpg` (1254²). Supersedes the earlier church illustration. - **Canvas (2026-09-25):** `big-pictures/covers/amazing-grace/amazing-grace-canvas.mp4` (also in the packet) — 1080×1920, 7.714 s = three bars of three at 70 BPM, 231 frames, silent AAC, seamless. A vibe over the album artwork in the `wattajetta` canvas lineage, rendered by `big-pictures/bin/amazing-grace-canvas.mjs` straight from `IMG_5775.jpg` (the 9:16 window keeps the cover's centre line, opens tent above the heads, runs down to the copper mugs): one breath of zoom, a small circle of drift, a hair of rock once per bar, the evening sun on the faces swelling twice, golden motes rising, amber grade, vignette, grain. No text, no AI. Uploaded to Spotify for Artists by @jeffrey 2026-09-25. - **Packet:** `~/Documents/Shelf/amazing-grace-DISTROKID/` on Frisbee and Blueberry; final FLAC, cover, MP3 preview and release metadata. Earlier 69-second assets remain archived. [Metadata](big-pictures/amazing-grace.release.json) and [render/review notes](big-pictures/AMAZING-GRACE-REVIEW.md). - **AC command:** https://aesthetic.computer/amazing-grace remains available. Its existing public audio, artwork, six-section manifest and Canvas still refer to the earlier 69-second version; this DistroKid release did not replace them. Next: verify store links and update the AC media/section map to the approved master. --- ## wannadash — SUBMITTED-READY (DistroKid form filled 2026-09-01; @jeffrey ticks the attestations + Continue) - **Artist:** Whistlegraph Dot Org · **title:** `wannadash` (all lowercase, preserve-caps ticked; no featured artist in the title) · label Aesthetic Dot Computer · Electronic / Indie Dance–Nu Disco, secondary Pop · voices Camille Klein, Alex Freundlich, Jeffrey Scudder · songwriters Camille Klein (lyrics), Jeffrey Scudder (music) · producer Jeffrey Scudder. Packet: `~/Documents/Shelf/wannadash-DISTROKID/` (MASTER.flac, cover 3000², release.json). - **Lane:** `pop/cult/` · the whistlegraph cult remix, edited to 1:54 · B minor · 120 → 128 BPM (the tempo picks up with the swing, bin/tempo.py) · deterministic score `bin/render10.mjs` and its bit-exact C port `c/cultremix.c`; `bash bin/bake-c.sh` bakes the whole record in ~20 s; `bin/banks.sh` rebuilds the ignored sample/sung banks. Mix rounds 1–13 in `MIX-NOTES-2026-09-01.md`; the guitar reorchestrated on `pop/guitar/` (strum machine). - **Master:** `out/wannadash-release.flac` — −10.0 LUFS · −2.1 dBTP · LRA 5.2 · 114.13 s · 48 k/24-bit; passes the house gate (`pop/MASTERING.md`, `bin/master-audit.mjs`). - **Cover:** `pop/cult/cover/wannadash-cover-gpt-image-2-field.jpg` — the three UV-powder glyphs (pink · green · orange) around the stone, from the cult footage's palette. - **On AC (2026-09-01):** https://aesthetic.computer/wannadash — `disks/wannadash.mjs` + `disks/pop/wannadash.json` (7 sections in shipped time). One drawing, three outputs: `out/wannadash-canvas.mp4` (Spotify Canvas — 1080×1920, 8.000 s = the hook's four bars, silent, seamless, no text; upload in Spotify for Artists once the track is live), `out/wannadash-reel.mp4` (Instagram Reel — the full 1:54 with the words on three rails as they are sung), and the section stills above. - **Next:** attestations + Continue on DistroKid (@jeffrey) → paste the Spotify link here → Canvas to S4A → post the reel. --- ## Femrag++ — RELEASED (2026-08-27 · DistroKid uuid 6AC3B59B-BF20-48D9-9813CB10B86C62B7) - **Live:** https://open.spotify.com/track/2v7LcVM38kpiIYd0RWQJzm · album https://open.spotify.com/album/2WtItmJXqsnCvequqtPBzd · artist https://open.spotify.com/artist/7hqUS0ZErVZ3JzdeBEEgDr (Aesthetic Dot Computer). Submitted 2026-08-26, live the next day. Canvas uploaded to Spotify for Artists by @jeffrey 2026-08-27. - **Lane:** `pop/maytrax/` · FEM-bell micro-rag → drum and bass · A major · 144 BPM · 2:27 · femrag's bowl/FEM-shell-mode rag grown into a two-step dnb engine: no intro — opens ON the first drop with Prutti's "aesthetic dot computer" stinger — noise snares/hats, a tanh sub walking the rag's roots, wobble breakdown joined by a formant throat bass at 0:33, a harder second drop, ragga back half. The last minute moves house: at 1:33 the harmony flips to the axis lift (F#m–D–A–E) with a new higher lead (LEAD2, climbs to D6); the push breaks open twice to a skeleton with the tune exposed; the outro plays the new tune in retrograde as reverse bells and one long swell carries the final bar into the closing home-A strike. - **Engine:** `bin/render-femrag-plusplus.mjs` (deterministic; `--keep-raw` keeps the f32 float for mastering). Master: `bin/cut-femrag-plusplus.sh` — the lane's compressor, then the house law (measure → one static dB → limiter). **−13.5 LUFS · −1.0 dBTP · LRA 5.4** → `out/femrag-plusplus-master.wav` (16-bit/44.1) + `out/femrag-plusplus-release.mp3` (320k — the file DistroKid got; the browser upload bridge caps at 10 MB so WAV/FLAC couldn't ride. ID3: Aesthetic Dot Computer / pixsies / Femrag++ — capital F per @jeffrey). - **Cover:** `covers/femrag-plusplus-cover.jpg` — @jeffrey's own 2026-08-04 living-room battle-station photo (fight stick, citrus laptop, second laptop, fighting game on the TV), squared by cutting top/bottom, sat +18%, S-curve contrast, sharpened, 3000×3000, EXIF/GPS stripped. Photo-contract brief `femrag-plusplus` in `pop/photo-cover-briefs.json`. - **Canvas:** `out/femrag-plusplus-canvas.mp4` — 1080×1920, 6.667 s (4 bars @ 144, so every motion closes on the loop), silent, 9.6 MB. Built by `pop/bin/photo-canvas.mjs`, the photo sibling of `pop/dance/bin/canvas-loop.mjs`: the frame drifts sinusoidally across the square cover (the 9:16 window shows ~56% of it, so the drift uncovers the couch and Xbox pad at one end and the DAW laptop at the other), breathing in and out; a bright-pass layer blooms the screens and lamps on the beat with kick/snare accented two-step; a refresh band climbs once a bar; the big hits knock the colour channels 3 px apart for a frame. Wrap-frame delta 0.153 RMSE vs 0.132 for an ordinary adjacent pair — seamless. Not yet uploaded to Spotify for Artists (needs the release live). - **Piece:** `aesthetic.computer/femrag++` (and `femrag-plusplus`, same manifest) — a `lib/pop.mjs` slideshow. With no illy campaign behind it, the twelve section stills are twelve crops of the cover photograph, cut by `bin/stage-femrag-plusplus-assets.sh`: fight stick, the fighting game, the laptop screen, the coffee, the keyboard, the DAW, the books, the fig, the lamp, the Xbox pad, the blanket, then the wide room. The plusses survive the parser, lith and Caddy; `femrag-plusplus` exists only as insurance. **A disk cannot `import` a sibling disk** — the loader hands modules a non-hierarchical base and `./other.mjs` throws — so the two names are two full wrappers, not a re-export. - **CDN:** `pop/femrag-plusplus.mp3` (the 320 release print), `.jpg` (cover at 1200², since pop.mjs preloads it and 3000² is a ~36 MB decode), and `pop/femrag-plusplus/sec-0..11.jpg`. Announced in chat-clock 2026-08-27. - **Genres:** Electronic / Drum & Bass (+ Dance secondary). ## wannadash — MASTERING (DistroKid package staged) - **Lane:** `pop/cult/` · signal-narrative dance · B minor · 120 BPM · 2:21 · “The Three of Us Are in a Cult” (Whistlegraph 2022) rebuilt as nine acts of morse. The release edit removes four redundant passages, opens a two-bar A-major solo window, and makes bars 72–75 a vocal dot field before the full ensemble's elastic return. Every edit edge has a 10 ms fade; the former 1:15 guitar collision is gone. - **Artist credit:** `Whistlegraph Dot Org` primary, with `Aesthetic Dot Computer` as featured artist, mapped to the same existing Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music profiles used for `lonerclub v4pid`. - **Engine:** `bin/render10.mjs` (Node + per-event receipt) → `bin/cut-final.sh` (five-part release edit, cathedral space, one static gain, true-peak limiter). Instrument phrases use deterministic level contours; the electric guitar baseline is 25–35% lower and its chord strings and shred accents no longer repeat at one velocity. - **Master:** `out/cult-remix-final.flac` · 16-bit/44.1 kHz · **−12.1 LUFS · −1.2 dBFS peak · LRA 9.0**. DistroKid staging: `~/Documents/Shelf/wannadash-DISTROKID/`. - **Cover:** `cover/wannadash-cover-gpt-image-2-field.jpg` — the selected `gpt-image-2` spatial dot-field variation of the real UV-night Whistlegraph footage, prepared as a 3000×3000 sRGB DistroKid master. - **Review video:** `out/cult-remix-RELEASE-critique-2560x1920.mp4` · 2.5K tall timeline with 15 instrument/audio lanes, performer lyric tracks, global minimap, and the scored elastic impacts. ## season remix — RENDER (whistlegraph remix, v1) - **Lane:** `pop/season/` · dance · A pedal, thirds open · 122 BPM · 2:56 · the `h0t` work ("it's too hot / no it's not / now I'm back in season", six posts spring 2022) as a stereo argument — call left, answer right. - **Engine:** `bin/render.mjs` → `out/season-remix-v1.mp3`. NOTE: outro uses the unprocessed original take — wants an aesthetivox pass (v2) before release. ## lonerclub v4pid — SUBMITTED (2026-08-27 · DistroKid uuid 61394BC5-FE8A-4839-AB7CE99747305CEC) - **Lane:** `pop/loner/` · club cut of the loner v4 regulation · A# minor · 122 BPM · 1:34 · the preferred v4 audio itself, spliced: opens on the sung "sitting" (v4's 0:31 pickup), one 30 ms crossfade excises the floorless break so the beat never stops, then v4's back half through its natural ring-out. The splice is then separated with htdemucs and rebuilt around her voice — the base audio is sacred (v4's own source was lost and every engine reconstruction was rejected), so everything is stem work on top of it: a thick round club kick, pitched-around hats, an eager humanized hand (swing, ±25% velocity, timing pulled 6 ms early), and a continuous low piano following her melody. The lead is one direct, centered foreground; chopped repeats, reverse fragments, phrase-long harmonies, step-panning, and phasing were tried and retired. - **Final arrangement (2026-08-27):** body → clock → club. One centered, filtered click identifies the clock door. The club door has no click: a 1.37-second Whistlegraph Dot Org tag enters at 1:01.78, after the final “pass,” and clears 150 ms before the drop. It is WORLD-snapped onto F2/C#2/A#1, resampled slightly upward, and held dead center while the image collapses around it; the wub and glass bowl open the club pass. The wub ducks about 2.8 dB under the singer with a 230 ms release. The decorative layers go silent for the last half-bar of each 8-bar phrase (the doors clear by ~10 dB in the high band), the eager hand and the piano sit out the clock's first four bars, and the pads take a bar off before the finale's last push. Kick, bass and her voice are never gated. - **Build:** `bin/v4pid/run.sh` — splice → demucs → stems → vocal → spatial stage → master, reproducible from the sacred mp3 with one command. `bin/v4pid/measure.py` reports section and door descriptors. (The original build lived only in a /tmp scratchpad and was lost to a system clean on 2026-08-27; it was recovered out of the session transcript and committed here so that cannot happen twice.) - **Master:** `c/cut-wax.sh` — the wax/FM chain (bass mono <120 Hz, side lift + 0.06 Hz drifting pan, vinyl wow ±0.12%, tanh saturation + 7.5 k exciter, Optimod-style density, 15 kHz FM ceiling) → measure → one static dB → limiter. The release print follows the house law at **−13.5 LUFS · −1.7 dBTP · LRA 1.7** (`out/lonerclub-v4pid-release.mp3`, 320k — the DistroKid file). ID3: Whistlegraph Dot Org / pixsies / lonerclub. - **First release under the artist name "Whistlegraph Dot Org."** Released as **lonerclub v4pid (feat. Aesthetic Dot Computer)** so it lands on both artist pages — DistroKid's featured-artist credit is what does that, and the featured artist is mapped to the real existing profiles (`spotify:artist:7hqUS0ZErVZ3JzdeBEEgDr`, Apple `6770592645`, YouTube `UCBFyg4JF3tnW-kVoO1GU1yA`) rather than left as "new", which would have spawned a duplicate page. Whistlegraph Dot Org itself is new on every store. Electronic / House. The file DistroKid got is the **FLAC** (`out/lonerclub-v4pid-release.flac`, 16-bit/44.1, 7.7 MB, lossless) — the browser upload path caps around 10 MB, so FLAC rides where a 27 MB WAV cannot and beats the 320k mp3 Femrag++ shipped with. - **Songwriters:** Camille Klein (lyrics), legal name on the DistroKid form (music). Credits: Camille Klein — singing & vocals; the same legal name — producer. "Whistlegraph" was tried as a third songwriter and **rejected**: stores require a real person's first *and* last name, so entity and band names cannot be listed. It stays the artist and label identity only. - **Cover:** `covers/lonerclub-cover-ah-crispy.png` — the blue felt-tip lonergraphic shot clinically sharp, generated from the real drawing rather than cropped from it, because the recordings are TikTok-sourced (1080×1920) and a crop of the drawing is only ~390 px across. All candidates and the upload JPEGs are in `covers/`; `covers/bin/` holds the three generators (`cells.py` cuts all 23 score states, `crops.py` frames the score itself, `lonergraphics.py` pulls each recording's last frame). - **Spotify Canvas:** `canvas/lonerclub-v4pid-canvas.mp4` — 720×1280, 8 s, the left panel of the blue-marker recording cropped to 9:16 so the whole drawing appears from head-circle to finished figure with the nib in frame. Needs a Spotify for Artists claim on the new Whistlegraph Dot Org page before it can be uploaded; the page itself is created automatically on delivery. ## loner remix — RENDER (whistlegraph remix, v4) - **Lane:** `pop/loner/` · dance (four-on-the-floor) · A# minor (+30¢, band tuned to Camille's 237 Hz) · 122 BPM · 2:35 · "sitting curled up in myself…" — 19 `lonr` posts; v4 = the regulation: WORLD snap 0.92, every phrase per-word warped onto the beat chart (vowels absorb the stretch, consonants ride 1:1, tail-less words get a synthesized WORLD release), Camille singing her own full-word low-3rd/5th backup, the band's pluck playing only her measured melody, kicks sidechained into the lyrics. v1–v3 (bedroom ballad → aesthetivox → angelic dnb) kept in out/. - **Engine:** `bin/halo3.py` (bank + generated chart header) + `c/lonerremix.c` — the lane's first C-native score (no Node render) → `out/loner-remix-v4.mp3` via `c/cut-v4.sh`. ## factory remix — RENDER (whistlegraph remix, v2) - **Lane:** `pop/factory/` · industrial stamp · D minor · 90 BPM · 3:58 · "factory cookie cutter personalities" (`fact`, 21 posts) — identical pressed copies drifting out of spec; v2 = full aesthetivox press (stamp-act grid deviation 1.3¢) with hysteresis anti-warble, six dies across five years. - **Engine:** `bin/render.mjs` + `bin/aesthetivox.py` → `out/factory-remix-v2.mp3`. --- ## YouTube state — pixsies singles (snapshot 2026-05-29) All AC YouTube cuts are **1920×1080 landscape only** (vertical = Short, metadata doesn't surface). Open follow-ups (queued, not blockers): - Re-run `node pop/chillwave/bin/gen-illy.mjs --slug helpabeach --landscape --sections --validate-butterfly` once OpenAI gpt-4o-mini quota clears — the validator wraps each gen with a vision check against `pop/chillwave/assets/wg-scrap.png` and regens FAILs (drift-1 visibly fails: tree-person not butterfly). - `helpabeach-yt-forms.json` not authored — backlight/zoom layer disabled on landscape until face-detected forms land (`pop/dance/bin/detect-face.py` is the precedent). --- ## americomputadora — RELEASED 2026-07-04 (DistroKid → Spotify, the 4th-of-July cut) - **Lane:** `pop/americomputadora/` · bubblegum-bachiamatrixian · D major · 112 BPM · 2:29 · the three-syllable hook (america / computer / dora) with jeffrey's ElevenLabs chant threaded through as choir, ornament, zoom-by, and departure. - **Engine:** `c/americomputadora.c` (C, stereo) — July-4th session rebuilt the whole back end: TRUE STEREO mixdown (constant-power bus pans, mono-safe bed wideners, dual decorrelated Schroeder rooms), printed on the **tape substrate** (`pop/lib/substrate.mjs` sat print + master chain) with the print LIFTING to hi-fi for 8 bars at the drop. Spatial story: near-mono choral cloud → condenses to a solo point → detonates wide at the drop → corridor bridge → accelerando outro (last 30 s speed up continuously — train leaving the station — while folding back toward mono). - **Vocals:** hook samples +2 st; america↔computer vowels BRIDGED (0.65 s blend, 0.30 s pre-roll, computer at 1.35× holding 0.45 under dora) so the junction reads "americawwwwmputer"; intro = ghost-bed choral→solo arc (5 detuned duplicate jeffreys thinning to one wild surging solo); sung two-note ornaments litter the first 90 s; skip-a-boo zoom-bys thread 4 sections (0:38 / verse 2 / crunch zone / pre-finale, more stretched each return); outro jeffreys return octaves up, sine-flanging, rocking L↔R. "aesthetic dot computer" stamp freshly synthesized via /api/say (jeffrey-pvc), glitch chops + telephone-EQ bloom, drums blacked out for the bar before the finale shock rifle. - **Percussion:** classic kit pitched down (kick 110, serious 150, snare 165 Hz) + crunch hats that EVOLVE (pitch/attack/drive ride song position, 16ths + open hats in hot hooks); novelizer voices (memkick/cavikick/gransnare) ported and kept behind `--novel-drums`; spacey one-bar drum break at 1:24; ~1:45 crunch zone = bitcrush + stereo-throb flange + the track SCRATCHING ITSELF (moving-tap scrub of the mix's own history) + sampled scratch cluster. - **FEM bells:** `pop/bell` stone bells toll "o say can you see" across the bridge, echo two bars later (anthem echoes, ≤E5 per the bell law). - **Cover:** `cover-android/gens/v9-crayon-patriot.png` — soft waxy crayon three-headed robot (jeffrey/singer/explorer) in red-white-blue star panels, PALS patch left breast + whistlegraph butterfly right, sailor-pixies tugging. Chosen over v7 pencil and v10 Soutine oil-goop (both kept in gens/). - **Canvas:** `americomputadora-canvas.mp4` — 8 s 9:16 Seedance loop of v9 (pixies tug, heads sway out of phase, fireworks re-bloom). - **Master:** −9.0 LUFS · −1.8 dBTP · stereo 16-bit/44.1k · ID3 album `pixsies`. - **Bundle:** `~/Documents/Shelf/americomputadora/` (master wav, tagged mp3, 3000×3000 cover, canvas mp4). Uploaded to DistroKid and LIVE same day, 2026-07-04. **On the AC CDN (2026-07-12):** `assets.aesthetic.computer/pop/americomputadora.mp3` + `.jpg` cover + `-canvas.mp4` (the 8 s Seedance loop). Converted do-no-harm to 44.1 k/16-bit WAV (triangular dither); the exact chain that produced it was not recovered from the neo session, so the mp3→WAV conversion IS the release master. Canonical tagged copy with embedded cover: `pop/wattajetta/out/wattajetta-stone-club.mp3`. - **Master v2 (LIVE, swapped 2026-08-13):** the release shipped at −13.2 LUFS and read quiet next to americomputadora (−9.0). Diagnosis was not the average but the *shape*: short-term loudness sat at −34.6 LUFS at 8 s and −14.5 at 16 s, i.e. the first ~20 s ran 20–27 dB under the body of the track. Pressing the whole master harder fixed the number and cost the kick — crest factor at the first drop fell 3.29 → 2.26, which reads as the drop "clipping" though nothing clips (flat factor 0.000 throughout). The shipped fix instead LIFTS THE INTRO (+9 dB under 12 s, tapering to unity by 26 s) and presses only +3: **−10.3 LUFS · LRA 8.8 · TP −1.2 dBFS**, intro ~7 dB hotter at 8/16 s, drop transient preserved. Chain: float → 4× oversample → intro ramp → +3 dB → alimiter (−1.2 dBTP, 6 ms attack / 90 ms release, ASC) → 44.1 k/16-bit triangular dither, over the original delivery WAV (do-no-harm, audio otherwise untouched, still 2:10.72). Candidates kept in `pop/wattajetta/out/louder/` (`cand-3db` −10.4, `cand-4.5db` −9.3, `cand-6db` −8.4, `cand-introlift` = shipped). Delivered via **DistroKid's audio-swap**, so the original ISRC, release date and stream history all survive — no re-release. Bundle: `~/Documents/Shelf/wattajetta-stone-club-LOUDER-DISTROKID/`. - **DistroKid folder:** `~/Documents/Shelf/wattajetta-stone-club-DISTROKID/` (release.json · MASTER.wav · cover-3000.jpg) — validated with `node pop/bin/distrokid-submit.mjs ~/Documents/Shelf/wattajetta-stone-club-DISTROKID --dry-run`. The delivery WAV title tag is `Wattajetta Stone Club` (corrected from the audition filename on 2026-08-09 without changing its decoded audio). - **Cover:** photo (no AI) — IMG_4049.HEIC from the Photos library (syndication scope, 2026-07-01): Jeffrey on the cabin porch under the blue canopy, crochet hood, laptop on lap. Tight square crop, brighten/sharpen, 3000². Source asset UUID `31606BCC-49BA-4DCE-A027-A07233755B4E`. - **Metadata:** artist Aesthetic Dot Computer · album Wattajetta Stone Club (single) · Electronic · songwriter Jeffrey Scudder · instrumental (single spoken "wattajetta" title-drop, no lyrics) · release asap - Related renders in the lane: `wattajetta-stone-canonical.mp3` (same form, pressed −11.1 LUFS master) and `wattajetta-stone-club-extended.mp3` (2× 144-bar club cut, `render-wattajetta.mjs --stone-club`, auditioned 2026-08-09 — passed over for the original length). --- ## boombaboom — WIP - **Lane:** `pop/boombaboom/` · sine-techno · D minor · ~3:19 (accelerando) · @jeffrey's "boom-ba-boom" vocal chant (`~/Downloads/boombaboom.MP4` — a 32.5s melodic whistlegraph-drawing take around C#4 with a recurring **E-E-F** hook) re-cast as a hypnotic sine-techno track, rendered ENTIRELY in C. - **Vocal:** autotuned to D minor (`bin/autotune.py`, note-mode) → **beat-aligned** ('boom' plosives → beats, 'ma' → bars, `bin/grid-warp.py` rubberband timemap, R3 smooth) → **stretched 1.3× for epic sustained vowels**. Sits deep + soft + whistle-dark, with a deep octave-down "throat" under it, fifth/third choral harmonies, and high "angel" octave-up layers on the back half. - **Bed (sine-only law + a few samples):** `c/boombaboom.c` — sine kick (tick-tock D/A), sine bells (long flanged decay), a healing **432 Hz sine-swarm that IS his voice** (energy-following deep echo), deep chord pad, power sines, a dribbly filtered **square lead** under the vocal, tight dark hat. Samples: faint deep **rainforest rain** + a close **LA helicopter** flyby (both Freesound CC0, see `sources/*.CREDITS.txt`). - **Form:** lost-vocal prelude → build → strong drop on the first boom → 3 passes / breakdowns (whistle-feature breakdown) → octave-lower "true ending". Whole mix **gradually accelerates +9%**. Humanized timing throughout. - **Pipeline:** `c/render.sh` (autotune → grid-warp → stretch → harmonies → osc/boom/ma cuts → C engine → pop master → accelerando). Graphic score: `bin/gen-score.mjs`. Felt cover (jeffrey + the whistlegraph drawing): `bin/gen-illy.mjs` → `illy/boombaboom-cover.png`. - **Status:** WIP — rendered + cover embedded (ID3 album "pixsies"). Committed `boombaboom.mp3` to the lane. Master in `~/Documents/Shelf/boombaboom/`. --- ## Fluttabap360 — RELEASED 2026-06-30 (DistroKid → Spotify) - **Lane:** `pop/marimba/` · the fat, fast, six-minute butterfly-park banger · **exactly 6:00.000** (187 bars, 4/4 @ ~124.7 BPM, back-solved + hard-clamped to the boundary so a player reads "6:00", never "6:01") · a buttery, poppin' cousin of the flutterbap material (butterfly / pal-of-mine / mommy-wow / slinky / fly / land hooks) re-cast over four escalating passes. **C-CANONICAL:** the JS file (`bin/render-fluttabap360.mjs`) composes + bakes the score; the **C engine** (`c/fluttabap360.c`) does ALL the DSP, mixdown, reverb-scene automation, finalize + master. The JS audio path is deprecated (kept for reference). Part of the *pixsies* body. - **Instrument roster (all synthesized / physically-modeled — no samples):** **dynabell** (additive bells whose waveform morphs sine → triangle → square, pitch-bendy, variable tail) · **fembell** (FEM shell-model bells from `pop/bell` — singing-bowl / church / handbell accents) · **gong** (gnarly long-blooming gongs — FEM steel/glass 24-mode spectrum + shimmer bloom + crash, ~15 s wash) · **flute** (the AC Cook jet-waveguide from `gm_synth.c` — ambient dawn tones, the hush melody, the fly soars: the "flutta") · **vortex** shoopy turntable warbles · **boowoop** reverse-bell flourishes · squeak-rides · fat bass-perc + butter sub + thick sub-octave · snare drive in the climaxes. - **Substrate:** printed on the **`tape`** medium (`pop/lib/substrate.mjs` — tube-glue compression + wow/flutter + saturation + hiss); a **`vinyl`** print also exists (`--substrate vinyl`). The "substrate" is the reusable print-medium abstraction (per-sample sat baked into the score + the ffmpeg master chain). - **Build (one command):** `pop/marimba/bin/render-c.fish` (bake → C album → seamless loop) or `node pop/bin/pop.mjs render fluttabap360 --loop`. The unified `pop` CLI (`pop/bin/pop.mjs`) drives every song via a `*.song.json`. - **Key-change journey:** modulates **C → D → E → (home C) → F** — Pass A in C, Pass B lifts to D, Pass C is the brightest in E, the late cave breakdown drops home to C for a breath, then a euphoric jump up to F for the final chorus (resolves home through progression → land → button). Every modulation blooms a **held tonic-triad pad swell**, with a long held chord under each `mommy-wow` hush. - **Squeak-rides:** short melodic scratch+squeak duets that **swell in and out** of the fight (hump envelope) — the scratch SINGS a pitched call (C→E→G), the squeak ANSWERS up top (G→C→E), both transposed with the key and blooming in a shared space-reverb send so they sit BACK in the mix. Fights halved from 8 → 4 bars (the old ~2:00 grind is now ~7.8 s, melodic). - **Space:** a shared room-reverb SEND deepens the whole field (melodic + squeak + pad voices); kick + sub stay DRY so it's still fat and punchy. - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer - **Status:** **RELEASED 2026-06-30** via DistroKid (single, album field *pixsies*) — live on Spotify. Release packet (with legal-name metadata, kept OUT of this public repo): `~/Documents/Shelf/Fluttabap360-DISTROKID/` (MASTER.wav, cover-3000.jpg, CANVAS.mp4, release.json, README). - **Cover:** `pop/marimba/out/fluttabap360-cover.png` (1024², embedded in the mp3) — a colored-pencil + gouache drawing: the butterfly cosplayer (jeffrey identity refs) **dancing ballet** — relevé + low arabesque + port de bras — with four or five monarchs circling him as dance partners. THREE render modes (`build()` in gen-sections auto-routes): real-world office beats = **photoreal/textured** (R_ blocks); metaverse-beach beats = **glossy desaturated-grey** Horizon-Worlds render (`cover-prompt.v2.txt` law); degradation beats (spawn / portal-void / dissolve — `PSYCH_SET`) = **super-psychedelic AC rainbow glitch**. No laptop, no matrix code. - **Pipeline** (auto-detects panel count per section, splits each section evenly): `node pop/big-pictures/bin/gen-sections.mjs` (portrait `-p` set) · `… --landscape` (`-yt` set, 32 panels each) → `preview-score.mjs` (9:16 insta-story) · `preview-score-yt.mjs` (16:9 YouTube) · `canvas-loop.mjs` (Canvas). Panels conditioned on jeffrey shoot/IG refs via gpt-image-2 edits. NOTE: never run two `gen-sections` processes concurrently — parallel calls to the OpenAI images/edits endpoint trip spurious 401s (sequential is reliable; 401 is now retried as transient). Upload via `node toolchain/youtube/yt.mjs upload … --privacy public --category 10`. - **The cut:** a 4:33 **vowel-extraction** remix — the hymn vocals stripped to OPEN/ROUNDED vowels only (ah/aw/uh — "ashhs and oooh", no consonants), their sustain loops **beat-aligned to the kick grid**, softened with per-voice vibrato + amplitude scatter (jazzy, breathing), and ridden **deep in the mix** (vox 0.07 + heavy reverb wash) so they ghost in faint from ~2:00 under the bed. - **v2 break rebuild (2026-06-03, @jeffrey):** the ~1:36-2:08 break is now a proper trance-style **build** (per `pop/dance/STUDY.md` — "tension that pays off on the drop downbeat"). Bars 48-51 still state + resolve; **bars 52-55** (~1:44-1:52) flip to an **ascending G-major bell climb that defers resolution** (each step higher/louder/longer); **bars 56-63** keep the dense swirling **bell vortex** but now arc **upward in register** and lean onto the **dominant (D)** in the last bar. Real **turntable scratches** are woven through the vortex (`scratch_render` in `c/amaythingra.c` — a vinyl "record" tone with forward-push / backward-pull groove phase, surface hiss tracking the hand speed, crossfader chop on the pull-back), growing 1→2 per bar, with one decisive **D-pitched scratch dragging back onto the downbeat** as drop 2 lands on the tonic **G** at bar 64 (2:08). Plus: final-90s 808 backbeat **ducked** + occasional **reverse-snare→snare fills**, and the 808 **fades in slowly** when the beat returns after the break (subtle most of the track). - **Master (v2):** **-14.0 LUFS / -1.23 dBTP**, 44.1 kHz/16-bit, 0 clipping. The native-landscape 16-panel YT illy set + cover at `pop/dance/out/trancepenta-yt-{sec-*,cover}.png` were regenerated 2026-05-24 from felt-puppet prompts (Aardman / Isle-of-Dogs craft language, tattered felt clothes, bearded jeffrey, felt mark + felt pixsies with prominent LED-bead tells) so the YT visualizer matches the album cover's felt aesthetic. The first re-render had a heavy contrast vignette crushing the panel edges; that layer was removed from `preview-score-trancepenta-yt.mjs` (function kept as dead code) and the file re-rendered with bright edges. Hybrid AC-kit break (chopped/shuffled `percussion.mjs` web + synthesized break-stab burst at phrase ends — no Winstons, no Amen sample), deep dub sub on offbeat push, warm golden sinepower pad, reggae skank stab, sparse dub sirens / airhorns, AC bell + ding + meow + marimba + sineloop + shrill + throat ornamentation. Three sequential verses, no overlap. Part of the *pixsies* body. REPLACES v1 `9KPUr6mA5e8` (deleted 2026-05-29) — the v1 render had the `drawVignette(c, v_i)` multiply pass darkening the panel edges, same complaint that drove the marimbaba v3 + trancepenta-yt cleanups. v2 removes that call from `paintSectionPanel` in `pop/hellsine/bin/preview-score-hellsine-yt.mjs` (function kept as dead code) and re-renders with bright edges — the transmitted backlight + leaded contrast layers already shape the panel without the periphery darken. The v2 mp4 at `pop/hellsine/out/hellsine-preview-score-landscape.mp4` (162 MB) is built from the 18 section panels + 162 s C-engine master. Concept = **in-aisle Trader Joe's party — "welcome to the talk show, come chill with us"**: jeffrey arms-wide hosting to camera, the pixie crew vibing through the aisle, AC upload-sparkles rising, his citrus-green Neo + whistlegraph-butterfly (both arms) low-front, pixie laptops PALS-only, no readable brand wordmark (shot indoors — sidesteps the Trader-Joe's trademark issue the exterior takes had). Iteration arc v26→v31: medium TJ's → bigger head → ultra-close → manger tableau → in-aisle talk-show party (final). Cover **still** is independent of the cover **video**: `build.mjs` trancenwaltzi square format is still on the old `v16` 8-section set — moving the video to this concept = regenerate all 8 sections (separate larger job). - **Next:** upload cover+audio to CDN (`assets.aesthetic.computer/pop/trancenwaltzi.jpg` / `.mp3`) → master ear-check → DistroKid (artist "Aesthetic Dot Computer") → add the **trancenwaltzi — RELEASED** entry here. --- ## momabobasheep — RELEASED 2026-06-12 (10-minute Bachian remix of marimbaba) - **Lane:** `pop/momboba/` · a 10:00 **remix of marimbaba**, the twin of marimbaba the way `pop/sleephellsine/` is the twin of `pop/hellsine/` — but it keeps the **actual marimba synth** (`pop/marimba/synths/marimba.mjs`), which is what makes it a marimbaba *remix* and not a sleephellsine clone. Began as a calm sleep drone; evolved (2026-06-08) into a slow, **Bachian, rolling, ever-transforming** piece that travels through keys over its 10 minutes. **THE CONCEPT (jas, 2026-06-11): MoMA (the art museum) + boba tea + sheep — "jeffrey goes to the MoMA", drinks a boba, and falls asleep counting sheep in the galleries.** Name history: "moronbobasleep" → "mombobasleep" (2026-06-10) → **momabobasheep** (2026-06-11). Master clip-tested (−16.0 LUFS integrated / −2.8 dBTP, no clipping). MASTERING CALL: −16 LUFS is deliberate for a sleep mix — louder would sacrifice the baked dynamic arc, and every platform normalizes playback anyway; no brightening pass (warm/dark is the genre, unlike the trance lane's note below). mp3 tagged (`title=momabobasheep · artist=Aesthetic Dot Computer · album=pixsies · date=2026`) with the cover embedded; upload assets staged in `~/Documents/Shelf/momboba/` (MASTER.wav + momabobasheep.mp3 + momabobasheep-cover-3000.png). **On the AC CDN (2026-07-12):** `assets.aesthetic.computer/pop/momabobasheep.mp3` + `.jpg` cover + `.mp4` (bunny-reel) + `-canvas.mp4`. Canvas: `bin/build-canvas.mjs` — 8 s silent ping-pong of the dream take. NOT a preview-score cut — a new **listener** pipeline: 15 felt Seedance clips (the 9 movement scenes + 6 added vignettes: boba-macro, sheep-sky, pond-koi, color-field, night-moon, and a closing **sketchbook** shot that feeds the day's prior stills forward as gpt-image-2 refs so the pages relive the day) **cycled** so no clip repeats back-to-back, each under a fresh crop drift, **xfade dissolves** between every scene, trimmed jumpy tails + slo-mo + stop-motion fps, gentle wavy displacement + film grain + unsharp, staggered pals side-badges (left low / right high, pals leading each rotated title column). Storyboarded/auditioned in **ShotWizard** (`pop/momboba/video/board.json` + `build.mjs` driver: `--shot ` gens still+clip, `--assemble` cuts the full video). Built by `bin/assemble-listener.mjs` (cycling/crossfade plate) → `bin/chrome-listener.mjs` (chrome + post). Title "Momabobasheep", hashtag-only description. Thumbnail = the lily-pad dream frame. - **Engine:** `pop/momboba/bin/render-momabobasheep.mjs` — a **generative** renderer (deterministic per `--seed`; the default seed string remains `mombobasleep`, the PRNG key for this exact walk). **C ENGINE (2026-06-11, house pattern like hellsine/americomputadora):** `pop/momboba/c/` — composition stays in JS (score-extract + bake.mjs fan-out with an rng parity gate), `momabobasheep.c` executes the DSP ~30× faster (610 s in ~20 s) and matches the JS reference to ≤0.01 dB on every compare metric (`c/compare.mjs` verdict: all PASS). Run: `node pop/momboba/c/render-c.mjs`. 100% synthesized — the CC0 rain sample + brownian/air hiss beds were REMOVED (2026-06-10: too repetitive as a loop, environmental noise out of the track completely); it opens on the tonic pad + drone alone, then builds a contrapuntal baroque texture over a fixed **functional progression** (ii–V–I / plagal / modal Eb) in F major: - **FIBONACCI-ARCH NIGHT NARRATIVE** — 9 movements (bars 3·5·8·13·21·34·55·34·13) that are chapters of a night (drift → settle → sink → deepening → dreaming → deep dream → THE DREAM → strange REM → dawn). Bar-counts grow to a LATE peak so the climax lands near the **golden section** (~0.6 of the runtime), then recede; each movement has its own dynamic **level**, key (gentle journey, home at the ends), whistle **register**, and density — a real arc, not a loop. A baked dynamic curve + a gentle (non-levelling) master keep it (verified: per-minute loudness swells ≈ −21 → −17 → −21 dB); - **per-chapter PROGRESSIONS** — each movement walks its OWN functional progression (calm tonic → ii–V–I → circle-ish turns → modal Eb in REM → plagal homecoming), so the harmony itself journeys, not just the dynamics. NO chord ever repeats bar-to-bar (2026-06-11, incl. cycle wraps + chapter seams — verified 0/186; resty chapters alternate F with Dm/Bb, the piece ends Dm → F-tail at the loop seam); - **broken-chord arpeggio** figuration (Prelude-in-C style), felt-soft, drawn from an **8-pattern library** the renderer walks through bar to bar (range widening from 5→7 tones into the dream) so it keeps reshaping; - a **WHISTLE** top melody (MenuBand instrument-79 vibe — pure sine + faint partials, fade-in vibrato + pitch scoop; its breath-noise whisper was removed 2026-06-11 as the last "airy" texture), voice-led + harmonised a third below; - a **walking bass**, a **quaternary (alto)** inner voice in the bigger movements (four-part harmony), a chord sparkle on a **Euclidean E(5,8)** rhythm, **triplet** flourishes deep in; - fractal **pterodactyl swoops** — gnarly self-similar up-then-dive screech runs clustering at the climax; - underneath: the **felted** 5-voice drone (warbly, pure tone — stereo chorus only) + a fixed-filter deep **sub**, **reverso sine bells** that peak on chord arrivals, and a lush Schroeder reverb. ALL remaining filter sweeps + texture were removed 2026-06-11 (the drone's 4-stage phaser sweep, its felting noise-fizz, and the sub's LFO-swept lowpass "wub") — the bed is now sweep-free pitched tone, moved only by chorus + per-voice vibrato/drift; - **sidechain tempering** — the arpeggio ducks under the whistle. (The bass→bed pump was REMOVED 2026-06-11: its 45% dip-and-recover on every bass onset read as a kick drum. Same day the bass mallet went from the hardest strike (5 ms attack) to the softest (35 ms) — the walking bass swells now, it never thumps); - **SOFT FELT MALLETS** throughout (long mallet contact + slow attack). Every render self-runs a **clip test** (sample/true peak + LUFS). - **Master:** `~/Documents/Shelf/momboba/momabobasheep-MASTER.wav` (44.1 kHz / 24-bit) + `momabobasheep.mp3` (320k). **Sleep** chain (kept gentle so the dynamic arc lives): highpass 22 → +3 dB low shelf @ 85 → −3.5 dB shelf @ 3.2 k → ONE soft slow glue comp (2:1, no leveller) → 2 s fade-in / 5 s fade-out guarding the loop seam → **measured LINEAR gain to −16 LUFS / −1 dBTP** (loudnorm as meter only), truncate to 10:00. (Durable home is `~/Documents/Shelf/` — Desktop auto-cleans, [[feedback_desktop_autocleaned]].) - **Cover:** `pop/momboba/out/momabobasheep-cover.png` (1024², gpt-image-2 via `bin/gen-illy.mjs` + `momabobasheep.illy.txt`) — FINAL (2026-06-11, soft-felt return): **the whole concept as a NEEDLE-FELTED WOOL diorama** — felt jeffrey-doll (real outfit in felt, red felt glasses folded by his hand) asleep on a felt gallery bench, the water-lily room as a monumental FELTED TAPESTRY filling the wall, a tiny felted boba with wool pearls on the bench, and a flock of needle-felt sheep grazing the felt floor (wool playing itself). No text/wordmarks/screens. (Concept lineage: felted couch-doll → photographic MoMA scene → this felt MoMA scene.) Embedded in BOTH engine mp3s; DistroKid upscale at `~/Documents/Shelf/momboba/momabobasheep-cover-3000.png` + Desktop mirrors of cover + all four masters. - **Reel (FMV-ready):** `pop/momboba/reel/` — 8 vertical (1024×1536) felt story beats via `bin/gen-reel.mjs` (PREAMBLE + per-beat prompts): arrival-with-boba → the sip → galleries → pond-room awe → heavy eyes → first sheep → asleep among the flock → the dream on the lily pad. Outputs `reel/out/NN-*.png` + Desktop mirrors, for a ~30 s IG reel cut. - **Graphic score:** `pop/momboba/out/momabobasheep-score.png` (3200×1400, also on ~/Desktop) — the whole 10:00 visualized: 9 Fibonacci movement bands, the 186-chord walk, per-voice lanes (whistle/bells/sparkle/arp/ alto/pad/drone+sub ribbons), the baked dynamic arc, golden-section climax at 6:11, loop-seam note. Built by `bin/score-extract.mjs` (verbatim composition copy, verified bit-identical to struct.json) + `bin/build-score.mjs` → chrome-shot. Watchable as a **scorodeon** (`pop/bin/scorodeon.mjs` — NEW shared infra for ALL pop lanes, named by @jeffrey, score + ὠδεῖον): a scrolling dynamic canvas on the preview-score machinery (node-canvas → `spawnFFmpegEncode`) — the track's event data flies past a FIXED CENTER LINE, events light up + pop as they sound, chord rail, movement banners, drone ribbon, and a whole-piece minimap with the dynamic arc. Any `--size` aspect (default 1080×1920 story-vertical), `--zoom` = seconds visible per screen. Generic JSON contract; lane adapter `bin/scorodeon-data.mjs` → `out/momabobasheep.scorodeon.json` → `out/momabobasheep-scorodeon.mp4`. - **Done:** master ear-checked → DistroKid (RELEASED 2026-06-12) → media on the AC CDN (`assets.aesthetic.computer/pop/momabobasheep.{mp3,jpg,mp4}`, uploaded 2026-07-12). --- ## Special Sign — MASTERING · master locked - **Status (2026-07-24):** the release master and cover are locked; distribution has not been submitted. Durable package: `pop/nullabye/release/special-sign/`. - **Artist / body:** Aesthetic Dot Computer · *pixsies*. - **Master:** `special-sign-MASTER.wav` — 1:41.375, 48 kHz/24-bit stereo, −15.0 LUFS integrated, 7.1 LU range, −1.7 dBFS true peak. The accepted `Special-Sign-WET-ROTATION-AUDITION` preserves the earlier all-bodies-hum master as its dry anchor and adds the true listener-relative engine as a side-only parallel return: 0.20 normally, smoothly rising to 0.85 through the central eight-turn super-spin. - **Form:** 76 BPM, C major. Source bar 6 opens on the lead; sustained spatial bodies arrive high-to-low, percussion and bass assemble underneath, and an eight-turn listener-relative super-spin bends gravity, distance, Doppler, HRTF, and room returns. The bar-37 cadence winds the physical field to rest. - **Mastering:** linear `diamond` chain, spatial layout, no saturation, no recursive audio feedback, no added master echo, and no global fade. The wet return uses the 68%-wet distance/Doppler/HRTF/room engine and cancels in mono; fold-down checks at −19.3 LUFS / −4.4 dBFS true peak. During the super-spin, its side field measures 4.1 dB stronger than the previous master. - **Cover:** `special-sign-cover-3000.jpg` — 3000×3000 complete radial score. Its thirteen colored orbits are 1,932 C-engine events plus 35 Jeffrey-choir events; movement and chord rings wrap clockwise around the dynamic arc. The tagged 320 kbps `special-sign.mp3` embeds it. - **Graphic-score MP4:** `special-sign-graphic-score.mp4` — 2160×2160 H.264, 30 fps, exact 1:41.375 duration, 48 kHz stereo AAC. The same score becomes a scrolling scorodeon: body and choir events carry real master waveforms past a fixed playhead above spatial-rotation, kick-gravity, and dynamic ribbons. Rebuild data with `bin/special-sign-scorodeon-data.mjs`; render with shared `pop/bin/scorodeon.mjs`. - **3D spatial graph:** `special-sign-3d-spatial-graph.mp4` — 720×720 H.264, 24 fps, exact 1:41.375 duration, 48 kHz stereo AAC. First-person receiver view of the same 68%-wet engine: twelve spectrographic bodies, emitted wave shells, listener breadcrumb, gravity field, and the final mastered L/R windshield aligned to the bar-6 release start. - **Safety rule:** the packaged WAV is canonical. Rebuilding the C engine makes a new audition and never silently supersedes the locked master. SHA-256 receipts and complete spatial/choir provenance live beside the release. - **Special Sign 720 remix (2026-07-26):** a separate exact-six-minute dance/trance variant in `variants/special-sign-720/`. Its sparse 72 BPM build turns into a 144 BPM pop pulse at 2:00; the arrangement stays to the locked spatial field, one sub, kick, clap, hats, and one C-major trance voice. Review WAV/MP3 and the full receipt live under `out/review/variants/special-sign-720/`; the release master remains untouched. - **Next:** submit the locked WAV + cover to distribution, then add platform and CDN links here. This external publication step is deliberately still open. --- ## nullabye — WIP (lullaby carved from cancelled noise) - **Lane:** `pop/nullabye/` · 1:19 · 76 BPM · C major 4/4 · 24 bars. Technique study after Andy Brewer's "this song has no instruments in it" ([_Rk-hmIMv6I](https://youtu.be/_Rk-hmIMv6I)): two copies of pink noise, one phase-inverted (sum = perfect silence), notes carved by automating peaking-EQ bells on one copy — what you hear is the cancellation *breaking*. A 24-band pool (matching the video's 24 EQ points, enforced with a throw) acts as a breathy noise-sine polysynth; pink noise + constant-Q bells give equal voice energy at any pitch. nullabye uses 15 bands, peak 10 sounding. Part of the *pixsies* body. - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer (intended) - **Engine:** `pop/nullabye/bin/render-nullabye.mjs` — `--proof` renders all bands flat and asserts bit-exact digital silence (verified). Sections: breaths (wide-bell swells that demo the trick) → lullaby-a (pads + Q 55 whistle lead + heartbeat 54 Hz kick) → lullaby-b (+ bass roots, 8.2 kHz hats, Q 70 sparkles) → veil-lifts (250 Hz → 6 kHz wide sweep, last lone whistle, EQ goes flat — ends in literal silence). Lead pitches Goertzel-verified (E5/D5 exact). −21.4 LUFS integrated, LRA 11.2 — deliberately hushed; revisit level if it ships. - **Cut 2: nuellaby** (`bin/render-nuellaby.mjs` → `out/nuellaby.mp3`, exactly 2:00 — 38 bars @ 76 BPM = 120.0 s, −16.2 LUFS) — the complexity-arch cut, named by @jeffrey (nullabyte → noellabye → **nuellaby**): the EQ rack doubles 2→4→8→16→32→64→128, then folds back down 64→2 (2 bars per halving) and empties — band count as the musical-complexity arc. Full spectral-zone carve per @jeffrey: REAL kick (110→42 Hz pitch-drop bell) + closed/open hats + snare-shh + rim + shaker 16ths + tom fills + ticks + risers, plus drones / floor pad / octave pads / arps / twinkle clouds / detunes; ×128 keystone = 12-partial harmonic choir + 21-band diatonic halo. Engine adds **lanes** (persistent monophonic EQ points; consecutive notes drag the bell to a new frequency — per-lane events must be inserted in time order or the mono-clip silences the earlier note) + a per-stage cap audit that throws past each power of two; measured arch `2/2 4/4 8/8 16/16 30/32 51/64 92/128 49 29 15 8 4 2`, silence proof passes with all 92 lanes flat. - **C engine (2026-06-11):** `pop/nullabye/c/nullnoise.c` — generic cancelled-noise renderer (hellsine-style split: JS composes + bakes a score, C does all DSP). `render-nuellaby.mjs --bake` → score.txt → `c/run-c.mjs --out x.mp3 --master lullaby|techno`. Verified vs the JS reference by `c/compare.mjs`: diff −145 dB below signal (libm-ulp territory). `--proof` works in C too. nuellaby itself evolved to the **accumulation form** (no stages: 85 points join ~1 per beat, bloom, shed ~2/beat LIFO; veil bed runs throughout; key journey C→Eb→F→C; per-bar loudness ride). CRITICAL DSP LESSON: the EQ chain is SERIAL, so two bells at the same frequency ADD their dB — detuned pad doubles (+19+13+13=+45) and a root-partial choir both blew up the mix this way; layers must own disjoint frequencies. - **Cut 3: nullabata** (`bin/render-nullabata.mjs` → `out/nullabata.mp3`, ~4:21, −19.1 LUFS) — the **sonata cut** (*nullaby + sonata*): four carved-noise movements running **attacca (no silence between)**, bound by one lullaby motif (semitone offsets from a per-movement voice tonic) transformed per movement: **I. Andante** C maj 72 BPM (theme + warm pads + heartbeat kick) · **II. Scherzo** A min 132 BPM (theme shattered into a fast arp + twinkle cloud) · **III. Adagio** F maj 56 BPM (theme in long tones over sustained pads + drones + spice-partial choir, no perc) · **IV. Finale** C maj 84 BPM (theme recapitulated over a compact 47-point accumulation arch: 2→bloom→2, nuellaby's Boléro logic gathering the suite home). **CLARITY = Q:** first pass sounded like radio static — every bell-on-noise voice is breathy, and a wide bell passes a wide band of hiss. Fix was to run the engine at its TONAL extreme: high Q on all pitched voices (lead 110 / pads 55 / drones 45 / choir+halo 50+), **kill the wide veil bed entirely** (Q 0.55 = the worst static source), narrow/strip the noise perc (no shaker/open-hat; hats → narrow pitched ticks), and master with a 15 kHz lowpass + no treble boost — energy >12 kHz now sits 36 dB below full band. New engine piece: a **per-second, movement-aware loudness ride** (`rideTargetAt(t)`) so four very different tempos/densities land evenly. 47 lanes, `--proof` passes flat; `--bake` → `c/run-c.mjs` renders the same score. - **Next:** @jeffrey ear-check the three cuts → decide if one grows into a full single (more sections, maybe formant-vowel bells for a "choir" à la [[feedback_chillwave_formant_voice]]) or they stay studies. --- ## teknull — WIP (fast techno, 32 EQ points, C engine) - **Lane:** `pop/teknull/` · 2:00 exactly (70 bars @ 140 BPM) · A minor · carved-noise techno on a strict **32-EQ-point budget** (uses 27/32). Composition in `bin/render-teknull.mjs`, ALL DSP through the shared C engine (`pop/nullabye/c/nullnoise.c`) with the `techno` master preset. The technique is home turf here: the **clap is literally the noise** (wide 2.3k bell on 2+4), the **acid line is one monophonic EQ point** (303 slides = freqEnd glides, accents = gain, note-off = mono-cut), kick = 115→44 Hz pitch-drop bell, offbeat 55 Hz sub "oontz". Form: intro → build → acid → drop A (+stabs, lead hook) → breakdown (kick out, chord swells, rising noise-wash, subdrop boom) → drop B (+ride 16ths, acid echo 8va) → outro. −14.8 LUFS integrated. - **Artist:** Aesthetic Dot Computer (intended) - **Groove + bass + harmony pass (2026-06-11, per @jeffrey):** soft kicks from bar 0 (+22 dB slow-attack → full thump by bar 8); deep bass = longer kick tail (115→38, 320 ms) + stacked kickSub body (52→40) + 45 Hz master bell; swing on odd 16ths (SW=0.08) + eager hats / dragged claps + rests in the acid line; lead riff rides whole drops, lifts a 5th in back halves. NEVER-SILENT floor: veil/drone/air beds as 8-BAR events — per-bar bed events notch −35 dB at every bar seam via the mono-cut (verified zero sub-−30 LUFS momentary windows; floor then trimmed ~3.5 dB per "too loud"). **Harmony channel:** engine `group` support = second independent noise pair, residues sum in PARALLEL (no serial dB collision) — voice-led Am/F/C/G pads + top-voice double, exactly 32/32 points. - **Next:** @jeffrey ear-check → tune acid pattern/drops by ear. --- ### Mastering note (learned on trancenwaltz) The trance.mjs master chain renders **dark** (~16 dB roll-off into the highs) — sine-heavy synth mix. Ship-ready masters need a brightening polish pass: high-shelf air @ ~8.5 k (+4), presence @ ~4.2 k (+2), sparkle @ ~12.5 k (+2), slight 190 Hz mud trim, `loudnorm I=-14 TP=-1.2 LRA=13`. Brightness costs LRA (10.5 → ~6.7) — acceptable for a loud modern dance master; offer a −15 LUFS / wider-LRA variant if more dynamics are wanted. Always A/B against the pre-bright take.
