    • Twitter Images: https://grab.aesthetic.computer/preview/1800x900/${slug}.png
  • ✅ Updated /system/netlify.toml Redirects

    • Line 285-290: /preview/* → https://grab.aesthetic.computer/preview/:splat
    • Line 306-310: /icon/* → https://grab.aesthetic.computer/icon/:splat
    • Maintains backwards compatibility for existing URLs

3. Documentation #

  • ✅ PLAN.md - Project roadmap and progress tracking
  • ✅ README.md - Worker architecture and API documentation
  • ✅ DEPLOYMENT.md - Deployment guide with custom domain instructions
  • ✅ DEV-SETUP.md - Local development and debugging workflow
  • ✅ MIGRATION.md - Migration strategy from Netlify to Cloudflare

⚠️ Pending: Custom Domain Setup #

The worker is fully functional but needs custom domain configuration.

One command does everything:

cd /workspaces/aesthetic-computer/grab
./scripts/deploy-with-dns.fish

This will:

  1. ✅ Deploy worker to Cloudflare
  2. ✅ Automatically create/update CNAME record
  3. ✅ Wait for DNS propagation
  4. ✅ Verify deployment

Prerequisites:

See full guide: AUTOMATED-DEPLOYMENT.md

Manual Methods (if preferred): #

Quick DNS Method (2 minutes):

  1. Open DNS Settings: https://dash.cloudflare.com/a23b54e8877a833a1cf8db7765bce3ca/aesthetic.computer/dns/records
  2. Add CNAME record:
    • Name: grab
    • Target: aesthetic-grab.aesthetic-computer.workers.dev
    • Proxy: Enabled (orange cloud)
  3. Wait: ~30 seconds
  4. Test: curl -I "https://grab.aesthetic.computer/icon/128x128/prompt.png"

Alternative: Workers Dashboard Method (5 minutes):

  1. Go to: Workers & Pages → aesthetic-grab → Settings → Domains & Routes
  2. Click: "Add Custom Domain"
  3. Enter: grab.aesthetic.computer
  4. Wait: 2-5 minutes

All methods work identically - automated script is fastest!

🧪 Testing Status #

Production Testing (Workers.dev URL) #

# Icon endpoint
curl -I "https://aesthetic-grab.aesthetic-computer.workers.dev/icon/128x128/prompt.png"
# ✅ Returns: HTTP/2 200, content-type: image/png, 399 bytes

# Preview endpoint
curl -I "https://aesthetic-grab.aesthetic-computer.workers.dev/preview/1200x630/prompt.png"
# ✅ Returns: HTTP/2 200, content-type: image/png, 5.1KB

Query Parameters Verified #

Logs show correct URL construction:

Taking screenshot: 128x128 of https://aesthetic.computer/prompt?icon=128x128
Taking screenshot: 1200x630 of https://aesthetic.computer/prompt?preview=1200x630

After Custom Domain Setup #

# These URLs will work once custom domain is configured:
curl "https://grab.aesthetic.computer/icon/128x128/prompt.png"
curl "https://grab.aesthetic.computer/preview/1200x630/prompt.png"

🚀 Next Steps #

Immediate (Required for Production) #

  1. Configure custom domain grab.aesthetic.computer via Cloudflare Dashboard
  2. Test live integration on aesthetic.computer
    • Check og:image meta tags: curl -I https://aesthetic.computer/prompt | grep og:image
    • Test social media previews (Twitter, Discord, etc.)
    • Verify favicons loading correctly

Short-term (Development Workflow) #

  1. Add to dev stack (optional but recommended)

    • Run wrangler dev in Emacs web panel
    • Monitor logs during local development
    • Test screenshot generation locally
  2. Production monitoring (after custom domain setup)

    • Monitor Cloudflare dashboard for errors
    • Check cache hit rates
    • Validate performance metrics
    • Test with various pieces (wipe, line, video, etc.)

Long-term (After Validation Period) #

  1. Cleanup old implementation (1 week after validation)
    • Remove /system/netlify/functions/screenshot.js
    • Remove Puppeteer from Netlify dependencies
    • Update any remaining documentation

📊 Performance Comparison #

Before (Netlify Functions + Puppeteer) #

  • Cold start: ~15-20 seconds
  • File-based caching
  • Self-hosted Puppeteer
  • Limited concurrent execution

After (Cloudflare Workers + Browser Rendering API) #

  • Worker startup: 13ms ⚡
  • Cold browser start: ~8-10 seconds
  • Cached responses: < 1 second ✨
  • Browser reuse: ~3-5 seconds
  • Edge caching (24 hours)
  • Browser caching (1 hour)
  • Globally distributed
  • Automatic scaling

🔍 Implementation Details #

URL Construction Logic #

The worker matches the original screenshot.js behavior:

Icon requests:

/icon/128x128/prompt.png → https://aesthetic.computer/prompt?icon=128x128

Preview requests:

/preview/1200x630/prompt~wipe.png → https://aesthetic.computer/prompt~wipe?preview=1200x630

This ensures the aesthetic.computer client renders at the correct resolution.

Caching Strategy #

  1. Browser Cache: 1 hour (Cache-Control: public, max-age=3600)
  2. CDN Cache: 24 hours (Cloudflare edge)
  3. Browser Session Reuse: Durable Objects keep browsers alive for 60 seconds

Error Handling #

  • Canvas detection with timeout
  • Browser crash recovery
  • Graceful fallback for unsupported resolutions
  • Detailed error logging

📝 Files Changed #
